Shana Lloyd
Founder
Shana founded Once In A Blue Moon Farm with the belief that dreams are made to be lived out loud. Since its beginnings she has shared this dream with her family, friends, and community. She serves as the farm's true visionary, whether it is pulling weeds from the base of fruit trees or looking over real estate investments. In 2008 Shana stepped back from most duties on the farm so she could enjoy her gardens and textiles.

Thea Mayerson
Co-founder
Our 91 year old mother and grandmother retired to the farm full time in 2007, but calling it retirement is far from the truth. She enjoys cleaning and preparing produce for market, knitting our hand spun fibers, taking the dogs for walks, and entertaining guests. Always engaged in conversation, discussion, or story, you'll find it hard to pull yourself away.

Zachary Lefton
Managing Director.
Growing up on the farm gave Zach a sense connection to the land early on. He is finishing his masters in landscape architecture at the University of Oregon. His passion and earnest love for the environment and sustainable living is reflected in the development of projects and operations on the farm and the community. Zach has volunteered at The Funhouse Discovery Center on Orcas since 2002, spurring many music and arts projects and events for youth an especially teens. While he loves the farm and the land dearly, and little time spent with his guitar or laying back with some Northwest soundscape tops off any summer day. Zach uses his creativity to keep the farm moving forward with dynamic synergy.

Sarah Lefton
Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Sarah found her peace and therapy on the farm through the animals, but she serves as the farm's chief financial officer in between animal feeding times. She enjoys a good horseback ride and spending time with her two dachshunds Ana and Cortes in the gardens. Her knack of organization and professional aptitude make her an excellent team member in the office.

Micah Lefton
Farmhand
Micah is our summer superhero. Currently he is attending Northeastern University in Boston working on a neuroscience degree. During the year in Boston he serves as an EMT to help pay his tuition. Yet, Micah still has a yearning for the farm and every summer he comes back to give his family a helping hand and we are always sad to see him leave come Fall.

The Animals
The animals are just as much as part of the family as anyone else. Almost every animal here has a name, even our chickens. If you find it difficult to love them, you'll find it hard to love us.

The WWOOFers
Standing for Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms, WWOOF is an international movement that is helping people share sustainable ways of living. At any given time we may have one to three WWOOFers on the farm volunteering. Most of them are college students traveling during the summers and often interested in gaining knowledge about farms or rural living. They are an invaluable helping hand here on our farm with tasks from animal care to harvesting. to hosting our guests.
