Nestled on the sunny western slope of Mt. Woolard, just minutes from West Sound on Orcas Island, Once In A Blue Moon Farm is a 35 acre estate and family farm. It is an interconnected system blending the land with the built environment. We are a boutique farm. You will not find rows of crops or conventional farming methods here, but a framework for learning, therapy, exploration, and sustainability.
We take our roles as stewards of the land very seriously and aim to inspire others with our philosophies. Our planning is for today, tomorrow and most important, we are planning for generations to come. We work and think InterGenerationally.
Our reclamation of the land pays tribute to the past history of the 100 + year old farm and all those who invested their time, labor, and creative passions. It is here you will find our newly planted orchard juxtaposed against aging 100 year old apple trees, tractors, rustic hay barn, growing gardens, animals, and more.
We proudly produce multiple varieties of apricots, peaches, nectarines, figs, plums, cherries, apples, pears, quince and more in our boutique orchards. Our luscious gardens define delectable. Everything is edible. You will find many different cultivars of blueberries, tayberries, strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, grapes, and kiwis. Our herbs and ornamental plants and trees accent all our landscapes, from graceful magnolias to heavenly bushels of lavender. The farm is home to horses, alpacas, sheep, goats, llamas and a happy flock of pasture ranged hens, ducks and geese. You have never truly eaten an egg until you've tried ours.
You can find our produce and fruit at local restaurants and shops including Inn At Ship Bay, Sunflower Cafe, Orcas Homegrown Market, Erb's, Rose's Bakery, and our very own farm store.
